Last day of High School
Today was my last day of High School and my last day as a student at Pontiac High. And what a trip it’s been. I can still remember being a ninth grader and stretching my wings for the first time. It was also the first year i went by Serenity. I got to be the youngest school announcer for which i’m still very proud, i had my first boyfriend, my first kiss, i went to Homecoming, and got to be a part of the last incoming class at Pontiac Northern.
Then tenth grade rolled around and i was a little smarter, a little heavier, and not so happy, although i met great people that year who i love dearly. I got to be the president of the Drama club under Dr. Malcheff and although we didn’t do a performance, we got to be in the parade and i got to be Cleopatra! …then i got to walk 4 miles back to school haha. Tenth grade was such a roller-coaster year for me…
I was lucky enough to be in Germany for my junior year and live in my favorite country for ten whole months and (despite Sascha’s skepticism) i learned German, got to travel around Europe, fall in love, and make some of the best friends of my life. Junior year was a year of growth for me. I lost the weight and i regained my confidence. I learned to be outgoing, to be adventurous, and to be a strong individual.
Twelth grade is over now too; my senior year already becoming one long fond memory. Where to begin? With my mates i suppose. This year i formed really strong bonds with some of the best guys you’ll ever meet, although they can be a little rough around the edges, they’re good people and i’ll miss them terribly. I got to be president of the Drama Club once more and for the first time we actually got to put on a full fledged production, not once, but twice which is a stressful yet rewarding experience. I once again got to anchor the school news for the afternoon segment which i will miss terribly as well. So many things have happened this year its hard to sit back and figure them all out.
I’ll miss Pontiac something fierce; it’s my home. But i know in my heart that i’ll be back before too long, and that thought gives me strength. As Shakespeare pointed out: parting is such sweet sorrow.
As one journey ends, another begins…
- Friend: You only like Tokio Hotel because of their looks.
- Me: Yeah, that's why I bought their albums, to listen to their faces.
Becky, I have mentioned where babies come from but have I mentioned where they come out?!
